“Folks, this is the little starter home I told you about. It was built in 2012, features several compartments for a growing family, has numerous flower gardens nearby filled with juicy caterpillars, and is only a short flight from the entertainment district.”

“I don’t know,” said Wanda. “I was hoping for something with more of a view.”

“Just look at this rock work, ma’am. Beautiful, smooth, shiny stones, and running water just outside your door.”

“Are there many humans nearby?” asked Warren.

“Yes, it’s only two minutes from a golf course.”

“What do you think, Wanda?”

“Perfect. We’ll take it.”

  2. Dear Bugsell,
You’ve done it again. Made me chuckle. As I’ve always suspected. Those wicked creatures are little stealth bombers. Flying for cover now.

    • I hated not being able to lead in with an introduction. It’s often more fun to write than the story itself, and I don’t have to worry about that blasted word count.

  3. Golf course line is terrific, as I recall from my long ago days of playing golf. Perhaps it was multiple exposures to bees on the golf course that kept me from being phobic about them.Very funny piece throughout, Russell!

  5. I can imagine Wanda in Cat eye glasses and a bouffant hairdo – And Warren in a tam O’santer and white socks and penny loafers on four of his six appendages. Yeah I know they’re wasps but that’s the vision you painted for me 🙂

The story Alastair and I are penning is keeping me on the edge of my seat too. I’ve got to write the next follow up!

  6. Just as long as Wanda and Warren bypass my favorite pro-golfers … Phil Mickelson and that gorgeous dreamboat Australian Scott who took The Master’s last weekend…

This is the blog of a woman who is seriously on the edge and I mean right ON the edge…no, not there… just a little bit further… further than that…no, further still…just a tiny bit more… just move slightly to the right a little…no, that’s too much…just move a tad to the left…that’s right, just there…now you’ve moved too far to the left… Damn, what part of the ‘on the edge’ do you not understand? Oh, and her matricidal boy genius, come devil spawn.
